Some Thai Menu Review: I went into Some Thai ready for a good Thai meal. I left thinking about an omelette.
That might sound strange when the table also had curry, pad thai and dessert, but the Crab Omelette Rice was the dish that made me stop and say, “Wait, this is really good.” If you’re looking through the Some Thai menu and wondering what to order, that’s where I’d start. The Crab Curry, Shrimp Pad Thai and Pomelo Salad are close behind.
Here’s my honest Some Thai review, including a few dishes I wouldn’t rush to order again.

Some Thai Menu Review: The Dishes I’d Come Back For
Crab Omelette Rice — 10/10. At first glance, it looks almost too simple to be the star of the meal. Then you find the chunks of crab meat inside the omelette and taste the rice, which also has shrimp. It’s savory, garlicky and so satisfying that I kept going back for another spoonful. I’m still not sure what they did to make such straightforward ingredients taste this good, but it worked.

Crab Curry — 10/10. If the omelette was the surprise, the curry was the dish I wanted to linger over. The aroma hits first, followed by a rich sauce with a gentle kick of spice. You can choose how many grams of crab meat you want, too. I loved this one just as much as the omelette, so I’d order both if you’re dining with people who are happy to share.

Shrimp Pad Thai — 9/10. I liked that the chilli, bean sprouts and peanuts came on the side. You can mix them in gradually and get the balance of heat and crunch you prefer. The noodles hit those sweet, sour and nutty notes I look for in pad thai.

Pomelo Salad — 9/10. This was the dish that kept the meal interesting between bites of rich curry and rice. The pomelo and mint made it refreshing, while the dressing brought sweetness, acidity and spice. I thought I tasted a creamy coconut element as well, though I can’t say for certain what was in it. Either way, I’d order it again.

Some Thai Menu Review: The Ones I Liked Less
Pork Krapao — 7/10. Some Thai’s version includes ground pork and slices of liempo, which caught my attention. The liempo skin wasn’t crispy, though, and the ground pork was a little too saucy and sweet for me. It was okay, but I think the dish would be better without the extra pork slices.

Chicken Satay — 6/10. These were decent chicken skewers, but even with peanut sauce, they didn’t have the punch of flavor I’d hoped for. I found myself missing the more memorable satay I’ve had from street-food stalls.

Thai Fresh Spring Rolls — 7/10. The vegetables were crisp and fresh. Full disclosure: I ordered these by mistake because I thought I was getting fried spring rolls! They were pleasant, just not what I’d been craving.

Save Room for Dessert
I tried the Coconut Ice Cream, Mango Sticky Rice and Banana Roti. All were enjoyable, but the Banana Roti turned out to be my favorite. I expected the mango sticky rice to win; instead, I kept reaching for the sweeter roti.

So, is Some Thai worth trying? Based on what I ate, yes—especially for the crab dishes. My first-order picks from the Some Thai menu would be the Crab Omelette Rice, Crab Curry and Pomelo Salad. Add the Shrimp Pad Thai if you have room. And if you’re choosing dessert, don’t overlook the Banana Roti.
