Life Update in the New Normal: Going out for the first time

Is this what the new nowmal is like? When was the last time that you went out since COVID happened? For the past 7 months, I’ve quarantined myself at home, limiting my interaction with the outside world as much as possible. I’m paranoid like that. Every food delivery, every parcel, and every piece of clothing that comes into my condo has to be disinfected. It’s been months since my last haircut, and the farthest that I’ve gone outside my home is probably at the gate of our condominium.

As of writing, Metro Manila has the world’s longest COVID-19 related lockdown. At some point, you would need to go out for the sake of your sanity. As Infectious Diseases Specialist, Doc Dess told us during our interview with him, we all have our own ways of coping given that we’ve been quarantined for more than half a year. For some people, it may mean getting some fresh air, seeing their relatives, or simply eating at a restaurant.

In my case, the need to go out came when I had to meet my friend / bookkeeper, as I had to personally sign some important documents. I wasn’t comfortable sending important files through a courier, so I prepared myself mentally and physically to leave my home for the first time since the lockdown started.

I figured that it would be a good chance for me to see some familiar faces in person, and maybe see how the “outside world” has adapted to the new normal. Not to mention I’ve been longing to eat at my favorite restaurants for the longest time, so I figured that maybe it’s about time that I brave up and go.

Watch the video below to see how I experience the new normal by going out for the first time since the quarantine:

The New Normal Life Update

It turns out that the first restaurant that I got to visit since the lockdown was Ramen Nagi! Not bad because I love their ramen.

How about you? How are you doing?
