Picnic Hotel Bangkok Review: If you’re planning your first trip to Bangkok and you’re looking for a hotel that won’t break the bank but still delivers comfort, convenience, and a dash of Thai charm—Picnic Hotel might just be your best bet.

  • Address: 39 Rang Nam Alley, Thanon Phaya Thai, Ratchathewi, Bangkok 10400, Thailand
  • Price Range: Around PHP 3,000/night in Klook (Use the Klook promo code: PINOYFOODIEKLOOK for discounts)

Getting There: Suvarnabhumi Airport to Picnic Hotel

From Suvarnabhumi Airport, getting to Picnic Hotel is surprisingly easy. You just hop on the Airport Rail Link and get off at Ratchaprarop Station. From there, it’s a breezy 10-minute walk (unless you have a heavy bag or it’s sweltering hot—then a 5-minute Grab ride is a smarter choice). No need to wrangle with taxis or navigate unfamiliar bus lines. Big plus!

Picnic Hotel Bangkok Review: The Room

I was genuinely surprised by how spacious our room was, especially at its price point. For around ₱3,000 a night, we got a standard double room that didn’t feel cramped at all. The interiors are clean and straightforward, nothing extravagant but definitely comfortable and practical. Watch our room tour in the video below:

They didn’t skimp on essentials either: we had a fridge, a full set of toiletries, clean sheets, and a bed that was soft enough to knock me out in seconds after a day of exploring Chatuchak and Chinatown. The bathroom is also roomy—and yes, there’s a bidet (score!).

Staff were friendly and polite—always a plus when you’re in a foreign country and relying on a few smiles and nods to get by. The WiFi was solid, even with multiple devices connected. The only downside? The layout of the hotel is a bit of a maze. We got a bit lost looking for our room the first night, so maybe ask for a map or directions at check-in.

Picnic Hotel Breakfast Buffet:

Okay, let’s be honest here. Bangkok is known for its mind-blowing food scene, so when the hotel breakfast buffet turned out to be average at best, it was a bit of a letdown. You’ll get the standard hotel fare—bread, eggs, fruit, rice, and some meats (we only had sausage and chicken during our stay). Not inedible, but definitely not the highlight. But please don’t judge Thailand’s foodie scene based on this hotel breakfast becayse trust me, Bangkok’s streets are lined with flavor.

Location:

Picnic Hotel’s location is another win. You’ve got a 7-Eleven right across the street for those late-night snack runs. It’s also a short walk to the Century Movie Plaza, and just about 6 minutes to the Century bus and train stations—super convenient for day trips or hopping around the city. If you’re feeling active, there’s a small park right beside the hotel, perfect for morning jogs or quiet strolls.

Picnic Hotel to Platinum Mall

A short car ride from Picnic Hotel is Platinum Mall. Here you can do a bit more shopping and you’ll have more restaurant options. We tried the sleeping cinema in Platinum Mall too and it was a 10/10 experience!

Verdict:

Overall, Picnic Hotel Bangkok offers great value for travelers who want comfort and convenience without the hefty price tag. It’s not fancy, but it doesn’t pretend to be. It’s clean, comfy, and perfectly located for first-timers in Bangkok. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re after a budget-friendly stay that still checks all the essential boxes.
