Travel Lite: Keeping it Lite with Native Shoes

Who says summer is the only time to get to the beach?
It’s been some time since I last went out of town (or out of anywhere actually) with my college buddies and I think we really have a lot of catching up to do. Not to mention that I need to de-stress and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and the pressure of work! One of my best friends got a place at Catanduanes so we took advantage of this and made plans to go to Bicol with the gang on late August. As I took a closer look at the itinerary we came up with, I realized one thing – this is going to be a wet and wild vacation with all the beaches we’re going to. Man, I need to get some good beach-hopping gear.

We’re planning to visit several beaches in Virac and go surfing at Puraran (I can’t imagine how I’m going to do this since I can’t even swim). Knowing that we could be going through tough terrains on this trip, I knew I had to get the right footwear. My sneakers won’t do well on the beach and boots won’t be very comfortable for the long walks. I need to find shoes that are comfy, lightweight, and most of all, water-proof.

Native Shoes seemed to hear my plea because their footwear meets all these criteria, and more! Their shoes are waterproof, animal-free (2 points for this one), shock-absorbant, anti-microbial, washable, and odor-resistant (I can imagine some people who might need this last feature)! This has got to be the mother of all shoes!

I checked out their website to see what’s available. They’ve got slip-ons, boots, and sandals with a lot of styles to choose from, both for adults and the kids. I went to their Kiosk at Trinoma to try a few pairs and boy they really weren’t kidding when they said these shoes are gonna be light!

I would have wanted the Howard Peanut that I saw online, but I don’t remember seeing it at the Kiosk so I got the Howard Beaver Brown instead. I’m not complaining though because I’m happy with what I got! With its color and design, I’m pretty sure that the beach isn’t the only place where I’ll be wearing this one.

  1. I want to own one since it's super comfortable and water proof. Hindi ba siya pangit pag nagswesweat? Or what? You picked the right color! You can pair it to any outfits! 🙂
