Man, this year went by in a breeze. It felt like it was just a few weeks ago when I was hungover from a crazy New Year party, and now Christmas seems to be chasing me around!
Aside from the usual saving-up and shopping around that I’ve been doing when I start seeing Christmas Station IDs on TV, part of my checklist is of course, to book a flight back to Home Sweet Home where I spend the holidays with the fam. I grew up in Bukidnon (yep, the one with all the pineapples and bananas),so I had to fly to Cagayan de Oro then get a bus ride to Malaybalay City to get to taste once again my Mom’s oh so oily Adobo.
Uh oh, writing this post is making me hungry…and missing my mom *sobs*
Whenever booking a flight, it has been a part of my routine to check out the different airlines to find the most affordable tickets and every year, I get frustrated at the limited options that I have – either I go with the yellow airlines or the blue ones. And since I suck at getting the first dibs of promos, I often end up having the cheapest, but not necessarily affordable tickets.
This is why it was a refresher when I heard about AirAsia Zest – which is the new name of the Filipino Low-Cost Carrier ZestAir when it partnered with AirAsia, the leading and largest low-cost carrier in Asia. I’m telling you, they’re calling themselves β€œlow-cost” for a reason: they’re voted as the World’s Best Low Cost Airline in the annual World Airline Survey by Skytrax for five consecutive years. Now that has to count when you’re like me who always checks the price tag first.

I eagerly attended the Blogger Dinner that they invited me to last November 7 to learn more about this new player in airlines. Together with other Lifestyle and Travel bloggers like Divine Lee, Laureen Uy, David Guison, Chuckie and Yen Dreyfus, and Earth Rullan, we were treated to an awesome dinner at Clawdaddy’s where we were served dish after dish after dish of great tasting food – all of them with very generous servings (review coming up soon).

I won ClawDaddy GCs! Woohoo!
As we were gobbling up our seafood (and looking for the best angles for our Instagram shots), Jonathan Yabut, the Chief Marketing Officer of AirAsia Zest (you may recognize him as the winner of The Apprentice Asia), took us through the milestones that are happening right now at AirAsia Zest. It’s now easier and more affordable to fly to and from Manila to Cebu, Davao, Tagbilaran, Cagayan De Oro, and Puerto Princesa through NAIA Terminal 4 at Manila. Even more exciting is that they added four new direct flights from Mactan Cebu International Airport to Kuala Lumpurand to top tourist destinations of Puerto Princesa (Palawan), Davao and Cagayan de Oro.
I’m also particularly looking forward to their International flights as aside from Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu, Incheon, and Shanghai, Macau and Miri have been added to their growing list of International destinations. Miri is the second largest city in the Malaysian state of Sarawak on Borneo. After the discovery of oil 100 years ago in what used to be a quiet fishing village, Miri is now a beautiful tourist attraction, boasting its majestic caves, stunning waterfalls, and lush rainforest. This, my friend, has just been added to my Must-Visit list.

As you prepare to go home for the holidays, do yourself a favour and don’t limit yourself to the usual airlines that we know. Check out AirAsia.com and book your tickets. To get updates on deals and promos you can like their Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/AirAsiaPhilippines or follow them on Twitter here: https://twitter.com/AirAsiaPH

Now excuse me as I take care of this craving that writing this post gave me. I knew those @ClawdaddyPH and @NewOrleansPH GCs would come in handy.
